888.com World Snooker Championships 2008

The World Snooker Championships 2008 will be staged at the legendary Crucible Theatre from Saturday 19th April 2008 to Monday 5th May 2008.  888.com once again sponsor of the most prestigious event on the world snooker calendar.

Ruskins is located in the same square as the Crucible Theatre and becomes the hostelry of choice for players, commentators, celebrity and non-celebrity fans.  We are the ultimate bar to relax between frames, grab a meal between sessions and celebrate in after a memorable victory.

In Tudor Square this year, for the entire fortnight, will be the BBC's big screen; providing all the action as it happens.  There's also, Cuezone, your chance to show off your skills on the green baise.  To keep up to date with all the latest results, log onto www.bbc.co.uk/snooker

Check out our great menu, drinks list and sumptuous cocktail menu.

We have a fantastic program of live entertainment throughout the fortnight, as part of our regular live music line up.

The Crucible Theatre is part of the largest regional theatre complex outside of London.  During the World Snooker Championships fortnight the Lyceum Theatre will be staging Elephant, a visual feast which will enchant adults, children and anyone in between, celebrating the universal themes of forgiveness and humanity or 'Ubuntu'; running from Tuesday 22nd April to Saturday 26th April; followed by Bill Kenwright's spectacular production of Half a Sixpence staring Gary Wilmot from Monday 28th April to Saturday 3rd May.  For further details or to book tickets, visit http://www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk

For those looking for more explosive and action packed entertainment, across the road from the Crucible Theatre is the Odeon Cinema.  Also, within the City Centre is the more art-house cinema the Showroom.  Outside the city centre are the Cineworld, located in Valley Centertainment (ten pin bowling and various diners) and Vue, located at Meadowhall shopping centre.  To plan your journey by public transport around Sheffield, visit South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive which details bus, tram and train information.

Sheffield is also the greenest City within the UK, boasting numerous parks, woodlands and gardens.  It is also on the edge of the Peak District National Park.  Why not visit Graves Park, with its lakes, rare breeds animal centre and woodland walks; Shepherds Wheel for a taste of Sheffield's history or the Botanical Gardens for some Victorian splendour.
